Pastoral Care

The health and wellbeing of our community are central to all that we do at Thomas’s Battersea. We believe in creating an environment that is safe, caring and kind, promoting positive physical, mental and emotional health for all. Where children are happy, they will flourish.

Thomas’s Battersea is a community in which every individual belongs. It is ‘their place’, where they are known, valued and allowed to be themselves.

Throughout their time at Thomas’s Battersea, every child has individual care through the School’s comprehensive pastoral support structures. Pupils have a Form Teacher who oversees their wellbeing and overall development, providing an important point of contact for parents. The Head of Year monitors the development and progress of all the children in the year group, and alongside the Form Teacher, has key oversight of each pupil.

Heads of School and the Deputy Head, Wellbeing and Safeguarding, work alongside children, staff and parents to provide a multi-layered approach to pastoral care, while on-site School Counsellors and a School Nurse also play a pivotal role in the pastoral care and wellbeing of pupils.

With a team around every child, we strive to achieve the community’s common goals, which are for every pupil to be happy, and to understand what it is that makes them who they are – so that, ultimately, they can flourish in their education.

The genuine engagement and enthusiasm that permeates the school is from the staff and it enthuses the pupils. The support and encouragement to always be their best and the constant reinforcement of values is fantastic
