Destinations, Offers and Awards
I congratulate the pupils in Year 6 and Year 8 for the outcomes that are detailed on this page – including those who have been awarded a scholarship. Last year’s results were impressive, and I am delighted to report that we have continued the upward trajectory, further cementing our status as an academic school.
People often ask me whether Thomas’s Battersea can be a ‘both and’ school. By that I mean both a school that offers a strong set of values with a breadth of curriculum, and a school that sets high academic standards.
The answer to that question is: absolutely it can. We are demonstrating this each and every term. Thomas’s Battersea very much is both an academic school and a school that continues to make central a strong set of values with a breadth of curriculum that is unwavering and truly world class. Yes, the ‘both and’ certainly exists at Thomas’s Battersea.
It is fair to say that this year’s 11+ and 13+ results demonstrate that we continue to achieve our collective aim to be an academic school – made known through two distinct metric points: a given child’s progress, and their future school results.
With more offers from King’s College Wimbledon, St Paul’s, Godolphin and Latymer, Latymer Upper, Westminster, Brighton College, Wellington College, Winchester, Wimbledon High, Putney High, Epsom, Eton, Harrow, Emanuel, Wycombe Abbey, Dulwich, Alleyn’s, Marlborough – these results point to the efforts of the entire community.
First and foremost, the pupils have worked so hard. They deserve their achievements. The resilience, the persistence and the digging deep has led to these impressive outcomes.
Second, the commitment and dedication of our teachers, working tirelessly for the pupils and going above and beyond in their efforts to make every moment count.
Third, the parents, without whom we would not be the full, thriving community we see every day at school. A child’s success begins at home – and with so much that goes on outside of school to pave the way for these outcomes, we recognise the role parents play in preparing the children for their individual journeys. Furthermore, while the final choice of school is yours, we work in partnership to offer our recommendations. Making a wise decision that reflects what is truly best for your child is the essential starting point.
Behind this success are the dedicated structures that allow our entire school community to flourish. By introducing the ‘future schools’ process earlier in our pupils’ journey at Thomas’s Battersea, we ensure they are fully supported – not only in their academic progress, but in taking that next exciting step to their senior schools.
Congratulations to the pupils, teaching teams and parents on this year’s incredible results. This level of excellence is now the norm, and for that, I congratulate the community for the direction in which we continue to travel.
